AFTERCARE PROGRAM

Insight Northwest Recovery provides a wide range of care through our outpatient treatment services. The final phase of our outpatient program is After Care.

This long-term treatment is meant to provide you with on-going accountability and support as you ease back into daily life after completing intensive outpatient and/or outpatient group counseling programs.

In our Aftercare Program, you will:

  • meet for group counseling sessions once a month for a full year to check in on your progress

  • receive support from your peers

  • practice the skills you have learned

  • voice your experience with your recovery to provide support for others

We know that recovery from addiction does not always look the same for everyone.

At Insight Northwest Recovery, we are able to provide you with the best support to navigate the challenges that will arise on your path to recovery. Each of us have different experiences with substance abuse and alcohol addiction, along with behavioral addictions, such as gambling addiction or technology addiction. That’s exactly why we know that co-occurring disorder drug or alcohol treatment and the recovery process looks different for each individual. We are here to help you explore the resources that are available to you and find the path that suits your goals for long-term recovery.

Our treatment team is especially equipped to work with and treat individuals who struggle with addiction and are on the road to recovery. Each of our trained and licensed addiction professionals have a different skill set that they bring to the table. We are able to speak the language of recovery in a way that inspires trust and mutual understanding. All of our counselors and clinicians have years of experience, both personal and in their work, that allows them to give different perspectives to the process and provide examples for the various ways recovery can look in your life.

We are committed to bringing our help and resources to you through your first year in recovery, so that you can feel supported and encouraged through the difficult experience of navigating challenges with triggers, relapse prevention, and your newfound recovery. We are here to answer all of your questions and assist you in finding the best course of treatment for you. Give us a call today or schedule a free consultation.

What is Aftercare?

Insight Northwest Recovery provides you with the tools and support you need to overcome your addiction and mental health issues. Each treatment plan is personalized and comprehensive to help you develop coping skills and understand your triggers.

Aftercare is a crucial step in the recovery process that follows inpatient treatment and/or our other intensive outpatient treatment programs to help you maintain sobriety and live your best life. Our Aftercare Program meets for group counseling once a month for a whole year. This one hour addiction therapy session is part of the ongoing support and services we offer after you have completed one or more of our other outpatient alcohol or drug addiction treatment programs.

Your case manager will recommend a range of aftercare services to ensure that you have the support you need to remain sober and achieve your goals. This may look different from client to client but may include on-going individual, couples or family counseling, psychiatric medication management or psychological testing and evaluations.

Some of these services are provided by our community partner, Insight Northwest Counseling and your case manager will help create a tailored treatment plan that combines outpatient rehab and connects you with additional resources to support your needs and goals for recovery. Insight Northwest Recovery and Insight Northwest Counseling provide integrated mental health treatment to support your recovery journey.

Long term recovery looks different for everyone, but here are some strategies you may want to include when thinking about what recovery looks like for you:

  • Psychiatric medication management

  • Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)

  • 12 step programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA)

  • Other therapeutic communities or mindfulness groups like Refuge Recovery

  • On-going therapy with a licensed mental health professional specializing in co-occurring disorders, including alcohol addiction and abuse, and substance use disorders

  • Sober living programs

There is no one-size-fits-all approach, but combining outpatient care and some of the types of aftercare programs listed above have been proven to be effective in helping individuals maintain long-term sobriety.

What is Included in Aftercare?

Therapy is one of the most important aspects of the recovery process and aftercare plans. We provide a safe environment for individual therapy and group therapy and we encourage our clients to move on to our aftercare program after completing inpatient rehab or one (or more) of our other outpatient treatment programs.

Aftercare consists of regular group counseling sessions facilitated by trained therapists and addiction professionals that are focused on helping you develop coping strategies to remain sober. These sessions take place over the course of a year to check in for support along the first year of your path to long-term recovery.

Our therapists are trained in evidence based therapies, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • and Motivational Interviewing (MI), among others.

These therapies help you develop coping skills, address mental health and behavioral health issues, and create a plan for avoiding relapse.

Families & Affected Others

Another important aspect of our aftercare program is family support. Part of our integrated treatment plans may include family therapy sessions, which provide a safe and supportive space for family members to address any issues or concerns related to addiction. We also offer educational resources and workshops for family members, which help them better understand addiction and how you can support your loved ones in recovery.

Navigating addiction recovery with a loved one can be painful, chaotic, challenging, and extremely sensitive. We recognize that alcohol abuse or drug addiction and abuse is a highly stigmatized and taboo topic in our society. At Insight Northwest Recovery, we approach clients with the belief that addiction or drug abuse is not a moral failing; rather facing it and seeking recovery is a strength and asset. We believe that those who have experienced addiction are some of the most talented, kind, passionate, and hard-working people we know. If you are struggling with your use of drugs and alcohol, know that you are not alone and we are here to support you.

Many substance abuse or alcoholism treatment providers put an emphasis only on the addicted individual themselves, with very little mention of the people in their lives. While we recognize that the person impacted directly by substance abuse and addiction is the most affected, we also believe it is equally important to support the family members and loved ones who are also impacted by the damage and hardship of addiction. Not only does this help support the loved ones of an individual struggling with addiction, but family support and education can help create understanding and healing for the individual seeking treatment themselves.

Standing by a family member, partner, friend or other loved one who is experiencing addiction or going through recovery is an incredibly difficult experience. Those surrounding the addicted individual often are left feeling helpless, confused, angry, isolated, or overwhelmed. As addiction is so greatly stigmatized there is a lack of conversation surrounding this topic, so many people don’t know how to process their feelings or even know where to begin in assisting their loved one who is suffering from this chronic condition.

At our recovery center, we want you to know that we are here for you as the impacted loved one, and we are committed to supporting you through this time as well. For this reason, we offer family support where you can navigate this journey and receive support and tools to cope and process your own pain, as well as learn the healthiest way to support your loved one.

When working with loved ones or affected of addiction, we assist the family by:

  • Designing coping skills and tools specifically for your family

  • Making sense of the current family environment

  • Establishing clear boundaries with how to move forward

Whether your loved one is using substances, currently in drug or alcohol rehab, in early recovery, or long-term recovery, our practice can assist your family with the challenges you’re facing. We speak the language of recovery and approach families in a non-judgmental, warm, and client-centered way. We want you to feel safe and comfortable as you embark on a sensitive and difficult journey.

Our Approach to Recovery

We approach addiction and recovery with the belief that recovery and sobriety are client-defined. We recognize that every individual’s story with addiction and recovery is vastly different and we want to treat it as such. We encourage you to play an equal part in your recovery plan as we do and want you to choose how you want to engage in your recovery. It’s important to us that we make a collaborative effort in your addiction treatment plan, so that not only do you feel most comfortable and motivated, but also that is the most effective in helping you heal.

One of our primary goals at Insight Northwest Recovery is to help minimize or eliminate the stigma around addiction and substance abuse issues in our society. Our mission within our practice and the community beyond is to remove that stigma, make addiction less taboo and recovery more accessible. We want to provide a space where individuals who are facing the challenges of addiction and recovery can feel freer in their journey and live their best life after rehab. Facing addiction is a challenging and isolating experience, and the judgment and misunderstanding of addiction in our society contributes to that isolation. We believe strongly that it is past time to change that.

You are NOT alone. You are capable of change and recovery is possible.

At Insight Northwest Recovery we are able to offer addiction counseling and recovery treatment to those who are facing all types of addiction and mental health challenges. We are not limited to substance addiction and are happy to be able to assist individuals affected by all kinds of addiction including behavioral addictions. We proudly offer co-occurring disorder drug and alcohol treatment and fundamentally understand the connection between mental health conditions and substance use disorders.

Co-occurring disorders, or a dual diagnosis, means that an individual has been diagnosed with substance use disorder along with one or more other mental health disorders.

Some of the mental health conditions we treat include:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Bipolar Disorder

  • Personality Disorders

  • and more

We provide different levels of care and we approach the treatment process by addressing all of the challenges you may be facing and collaborate on aftercare plans that help you understand each condition you may be facing and implement specific strategies to set you up for success on your road to recovery.
