Liam Sharp

Patient Care Liaison/Client Care Coordinator

Through my experience connecting individuals with recovery resources, I have aimed not to offer judgment or predetermined solutions, but instead to get to know each person and walk alongside them.

From a very young age, I was consistently involved in volunteering, serving dinner to people experiencing hunger and living on the streets. At that age, I wasn’t much help in preparing or serving food, but I spent time coloring pictures and sharing meals with those who came in. It was a gift to engage without preconceived notions about addiction or chronic houselessness, allowing me to see people for who they truly are.

In college, I set out to study education because my volunteer work sparked a drive to be a positive presence in the lives of struggling youth. After graduating, I became a Program Director for the nonprofit I had previously volunteered with. In that role, I helped design and manage a direct street outreach program that provided life-saving essentials and connections to healthcare and recovery resources. I also implemented a community dinner program serving under-resourced families and their children. My goal was to create a safe, positive space for youth while also supporting their families. These experiences deepened my passion for walking alongside people in need within my community.

I’ve learned that a common factor among the vulnerable populations I’ve served is trauma and isolation. For many adults experiencing chronic houselessness, those challenges began in childhood. This understanding drives my desire to provide positive support for youth in need, which strongly aligns with INR’s mission.

I enjoy exploring the outdoors and love hiking year-round—especially to waterfalls—as well as swimming and paddleboarding in the summer. I’m also passionate about bouldering at my rock climbing gym and have a large collection of vintage comic books.

Professional Background

During college, I worked in before- and after-school programs within a school district, which further fueled my passion for working with youth. As a Program Director for a small Portland-area nonprofit serving the houseless population and under-resourced families, I gained experience in case management, working directly with clients, as well as in program design, resource management, fundraising, and development.
