Mackenzie Ohman

M.S., Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, QMHP

I believe human connection and fellowship is one of the most important pillars of success in recovery. I strive to foster a non-judgmental therapeutic environment that encourages openness, vulnerability, and connection.

My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own experience in counseling, where I personally felt the profound impact of having a supportive listener. This experience, coupled with my natural empathy and a lifelong passion for helping others, guided me toward this profession.

I see it as such a privilege to be able support my clients on their journey toward achieving their goals and living a life that reflects their values. I believe that counseling is a collaborative journey, where clients are the true experts of their own lives. Most importantly, I am a human, too! Showing up authentically is an integral facet to my approach in therapy.

Since moving to Oregon this past year, I have loved trying out different outdoor activities like hiking and camping! My ideal weekend includes an early morning hike near Mt. Hood, playing with my two cats, and playing a board game with friends!

Professional Background

My professional career as a therapist began in a private practice setting, where I worked with clients aged 12+ addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, marriage difficulties, and family conflict. I then transitioned to a medication-assisted treatment center, where I facilitated group therapy and crisis assessment for folks battling opioid addiction. My passion for working in addiction treatment grew from my experience in this position, where I witnessed clients’ remarkable grit and determination to transform their lives. In my most recent role as a crisis stabilization counselor, I provided on-call therapy for children ages 8 through 18. Utilizing techniques like solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing, I was able to support these clients in their journey to building healthier, more stable lives.
